Facebook drives Internet safety in Africa
On February 9 2016, Facebook hosted a Women’s Safety roundtable in Kenya to highlight how the community can work together to create a harassment-free environment so that everyone feels safe to share and interact online. The roundtable coincided with the Safer Internet Day and its main focus was to address the issues of online harassment of women. This was the first one of a series of roundtables that Facebook will hold around the world in order to gain insight from the communities to help the development of global policies that focus on safety, encouraging online respect, and honoring the cultural diversity of this social platform.
