The Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project is reporting that over 90% of adults now own a cell phone.  According to Pew, the cell phone is the most quickly adopted consumer technology in the history of the world.

The advent of the smartphone has evidently been a major catalyst for the adoption rate as 56% of American adults currently own a smartphone.

The Pew study included a comprehensive breakdown of ownershiptrends with the lowest adoption rates being those earning less than $30,000/year; individuals over 65; and those with less than a high school education.
